Jerry LaPoint, Retiree Council Representative to the International Executive Board – Eau Clair, Wisconsin
.jpg) Jerry LaPoint went to work for the Eau Clair, Wis., Board of Education in 1961 and joined AFSCME Local 560 the same year. He soon became the local’s Sergeant at Arms and was later elected to the Executive Board. He served the local as Vice President for 12 years, before his election as President. In 1980, LaPoint was elected to the Council 40 Executive Board. He was elected Vice President of the council in 1984 and served for two terms. LaPoint retired from the Board of Education in 1992 and joined AFSCME Wisconsin Retiree Chapter 7. In 1994, he was elected Chapter President and began representing Chapter 7 on the International Union’s Retiree Council. The Retiree Council elected him Chairman in 2002. LaPoint also serves on the Executive Boards of the national Alliance for Retired Americans, the Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans and the Eau Clair Labor Council.
